2016 Meetings

January 20th

SINGERS OF SEA SONGS, Julie Charland and Denya LeVine perform sea chanteys, folk songs, familiar 20th century music and lively fiddle tunes, all on the theme of the sea.  They play guitar, fiddle, Irish drum, and ukuleles, and their vocal harmonies sparkle with joyous energy.  Julie is a Nashville recording artist, award-winning songwriter, and local folk and bluegrass musician with the group Toast and Jam.  Denya's a full time musician who's performed on Cape Cod and in southeastern Massachusetts with folk and ethnic bands for 30 years.  This duo has a zest for life that is contagious.

February 17th

Local author Carol Smilgin will discuss her novel "Provenance" and international romantic suspense saga involving the "greatest art theft in history".  The Nazi's confiscation of over 600 thousand pieces of priceless art works.  Learn why they did it and who the monuments men were.  Learn what provenance means and if any of the art that survived made it back to the original owners.  Ms. Smilgin will be available to sign copies of her novel and discuss future projects after her talk.

March 16th

Prepare to be amused, amazed and mystified as we present Marcus the Magician.  Marcus, (aka Paul Marcus Earle) will present a high-energy, comedy magic show featuring music, audience participation, and incredible feats of the impossible. Marcus has made magic for over 36 years and is a member of The International Society of Magicians,  The Society of American Magicians, and the past president of the Cape Cod Mystics.  A former high school and college instructor, he was the co-producer and principal performer in Magic by the Sea, a stage production that ran for 12 years in Chatham.  He is now the operator of an entertainment company called appropriately enough, The Magicompany.
